About
The profile of Dr. Abdelrahman Lotfy, MD, FEBS, MRCS.
Dr. Abdelrahman Lotfy is a Consultant and Lecturer of General, Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery at Cairo University’s Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine, with over a decade of experience performing complex abdominal, upper gastrointestinal and bariatric procedures. His career is built on a dual commitment: advancing patient outcomes through evidence-based practice, and mentoring the next generation of surgeons.
That combination is not a footnote. A surgeon who teaches surgery is accountable to the evidence every day, in front of students and trainees who will question every decision. Dr. Lotfy holds his own practice to the same standard he holds his trainees to: rigorous, current and centred on what the evidence actually says is best for each individual case.
As a Lecturer of General Surgery at Cairo University, Dr. Lotfy teaches and supervises medical students and postgraduate surgical trainees at Kasr Al-Ainy. He has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications and remains actively involved in surgical research, which keeps his practice close to the evidence rather than simply applying it from a distance.
Services
General, laparoscopic, bariatric, colorectal and robotic surgery, delivered to the academic standards of Kasr Al-Ainy.
Minimally invasive surgery through small incisions, using a camera and fine instruments. For most abdominal conditions it means less post-operative pain, shorter hospital stays, faster return to work and better cosmetic results.
Weight loss surgery is a medical decision, not a cosmetic one. Every candidate is assessed against international criteria, and the procedure is matched to your health profile, eating pattern and metabolic conditions such as type 2 diabetes.
Robot-assisted surgery gives the surgeon three-dimensional vision and instruments that move with a precision beyond the human wrist. Dr. Lotfy applies robotic techniques in selected complex abdominal and colorectal cases where that precision translates into a real clinical benefit.
Diagnosis and surgical treatment of conditions of the colon, rectum and anus, from common complaints treated in a single visit to complex resections planned with a multidisciplinary team.
Laparoscopic and open repair of inguinal, umbilical, epigastric and incisional hernias using modern mesh techniques, with the approach selected to minimise recurrence and recovery time.
The full spectrum of general surgery, including acute abdominal emergencies, soft tissue procedures and thyroid and breast surgery, managed with the same evidence-based standards that govern every elective case.
